KRSB Future Voices Academy was built for young people who have something to say and never got the room to say it. We give them the room. We give them the mic. We put them to work.
We run a 12-week tuition-free broadcasting residency for HBCU students. No simulations. No busy work. Students broadcast real games, cover real stories, and leave with real credentials. The kind that open doors.
Knowledge is the craft. We teach students how to tell a story under pressure, on a live broadcast, when the whole community is listening. That skill does not stay in the press box. It follows them everywhere.
Relationships are the foundation. Every mentor, every contact, every handshake in this program is a thread in a network they will spend their careers building on. We do not just train broadcasters. We introduce them to their future.
Sports is the stage. HBCU athletics has produced giants and been given footnotes. We are fixing that. One broadcast at a time.
Business is the point. This is not a hobby program. It is a career pipeline. Students leave ready to work, ready to lead, and ready to own their narrative.
Philadelphia has talent. So does every city where an HBCU game is played and no one covers it the way it deserves to be covered. When you invest in this program, you are not sponsoring a sports organization. You are putting a young person in the press box for the first time and watching them realize they belong there.

A veteran play-by-play announcer and HBCU historian with over two decades of broadcast experience, including 150+ live games, 3 Division II Final Fours, and the 1996 Olympics. Teaching philosophy: 'Don't just call the game. Own the narrative.' We train high school juniors and seniors from Philadelphia public and charter schools to become professional sports broadcasters — on real HBCU game broadcasts, supervised by working professionals.

The media landscape suffers from a critical lack of diverse voices. FVA was established to dismantle the economic and access barriers that keep talented Black students out of professional broadcasting. Talent is distributed equally. Opportunity is not. This program is our correction to that imbalance.
